What Information an Astrologer Really Needs From You

A consultation succeeds or fails in its first ten minutes. If the details are ready and accurate, we spend the whole session on your actual question. If they are not, half the time goes in reconstruction.

Here is precisely what I need from you, and why each item matters.

The three essentials

• Date of birth. Exact calendar date. If your family follows a Tithi-based birthday, please give the English date from the record, not the celebrated one.
• Time of birth. As precise as possible, including whether it was morning or evening. The Lagna changes roughly every two hours, and the Navamsa ascendant changes far faster.
• Place of birth. The town or village, not just the district. Longitude decides the ascendant degree, and nearby towns can differ.

If the time is doubtful, say so openly. I would far rather rectify the chart than build a prediction on a guess.

The details that sharpen a marriage reading

For any marriage question, these help enormously:

• Whether the birth time came from a hospital record, a family diary, or memory.
• Four to six dated life events — education milestones, job changes, relocations, health episodes, engagement or marriage.
• Your current dasha if you already know it, though I will verify it myself.
• For matching, the full birth details of the prospective partner, prepared the same way.

What is genuinely useful to tell me

• The specific question you want answered. "When will marriage happen?" and "Is this particular alliance suitable?" are different readings.
• Family expectations or constraints — a preferred time frame, a wedding season under discussion.
• Remedies you are already following, so nothing is duplicated or contradicted.
• Any earlier reading you were given, if it is troubling you. I will tell you honestly whether I agree.

What I do not need

I do not need your income figures, your bank details, or private information about anyone else. I do not need photographs to read a chart. And nothing you share leaves the consultation — every session is confidential.

If anyone insists on payments to "remove" something from your chart, treat that as a warning sign. Vedic astrology at its best is guidance, not leverage.
